Green house

On Earth Day, as we think about ways we can reduce, reuse and recycle, our eCoupled brand is doing much more  as part of a Wired magazine exhibit at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry.

Our Fulton Innovation technology is part of The Smart Home: Green + Wired exhibit.  The Smart Home is a fully-functioning, eco-friendly home that demonstrates how new technologies can make life simpler, smarter and more efficient while simultaneously minimizing impact on the environment.

eCoupled supplies a kitchen counter with wireless technology that powers appliances and can charge electronics like cell phones and laptops without cords.

Visit the green house on this very green day, or any other time through January 2011.

Breaking away

If your spring break plans include a visit to West Michigan, consider adding the Grand Rapids Public Museum to your itinerary.

Through November the museum is hosting an exhibit celebrating Amway’s first 50 years and this week offers lots of special events for spring breaking families.   Tom Nemcek of our Fulton Innovation unit will host nine sessions on “The Magic of Wireless” and share how our eCoupled technology provides wireless power to everything from can openers to computers.  Tom will present on April 5,  7 and 9  at 11 a.m., Noon, and 1 p.m. EST.

It’s a fun option for families breaking away to West Michigan for spring break, and even for those “staycationing” close to home.

The latest gadget

While another company captured attention this week for unveiling the latest tech gadget, our Fulton Innovation group’s eCoupled technology was in the spotlight for helping consumers cut the cord to their electronic devices.

Our wireless power technology was featured on NBC’s TODAY show in a segment on new consumer tech products.  Gadget Nation author Steve Greenberg showed viewers how eCoupled  helps consumers keep their gadgets charged by providing wireless power to laptops, cell phones, and other small electronic devices.

Even the latest gadget.

Find, fan or friend us

If you’re already a fan of our Artistry skin care or Nutrilite vitamin and mineral supplement brands, you can make that relationship official.

That’s because there are official pages for our flagship Artistry and Nutrilite brands on Facebook. Become a fan and get the most up-to-date news on these global brands.

You’ll also find company-run Facebook pages for our college talent acquisition program and the eCoupled cordless power technology offered by Amway sister company Fulton Innovation.

If you do a search on Facebook, you’ll find a number of unofficial Amway pages hosted by Amway business owners, employees or others.

But the official Amway Facebook page hasn’t launched yet. We’ll let you know when that’s ready.

And then we’ll make things official.

Change in Latitude

This week Dell launched its latest laptop with something no other PC has — eCoupled wireless charging capabilities.

The Latitude Z is the first laptop to use the proprietary technology developed and marketed by Fulton Innovation, part of the Amway family of companies. It’s a change of attitude for the computer maker that’ll create a change in Latitude for laptop owners.

But that’s not all. Fulton also this week issued a white paper and video to help consumers understand how wireless power works and the ways it can simplify their lives.

Powerful stuff.

“Skin is in” with wireless power

Charging your mobile electronic device is now as easy as slipping on some skin.

Amway subsidiary Fulton Innovation has partnered with case-mate to charge mobile devices without wires using case-mate’s protective casings.

case-mate products embedded with Fulton’s eCoupled technology can charge cell phones, PDAs and multimedia players at rates comparable to traditional (read: wired) power sources. It also gives today’s on-the-go consumers a safe and simple way to keep their devices charged throughout the day without having to search for all those incompatible cords and adapters.

The partnership could introduce wireless power to “anything that you would feel comfortable putting a skin on,” said David Baarman, Fulton director of advanced technologies.

This gives “portable” that much more potential.

BMW, Samsung, Bosch, Philips, TI, Sony, Fulton Innovation… Fulton Innovation?

Part of the Amway family, Fulton Innovation keeps some pretty good company in a recent issue of The Economist. The story follows on the heels of Fulton Innovation’s much anticipated showing of its eCoupled technology at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.

Logos for Fulton Innovation and eCoupledAlso mentioned in the article is Splashpower, a British concern acquired last year by Fulton Innovation. Fulton director Bret Lewis is quoted as saying that he sees 2009 as “the year for wireless” charging technology. In response, The Economist believes that is it simply a matter of time before wireless charging hits the mainstream.
